U de M Business Student Receives J.D. Irving, Limited Accounting Incentive Award

(Saint John, NB):  Twenty-one-year-old Justin Robichaud from Saint John, New Brunswick is the recipient of the J.D. Irving, Limited Accounting Incentive Award.  The third-year business student from l’Université de Moncton received a $3,000 award payable toward his education and a co-op accounting position with JDI Finance in Saint John.

Justin is currently working towards a Business Administration degree at U de M.  He graduates in May 2014 and plans to pursue an Accounting designation.  He has a summer co-op work term position as part of the JDI Finance structured accounting co-op program and will be completing his next co-op term in the winter of 2014.  A graduate of le Centre Scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain, Justin’s first exposure to JDI was as a labourer for Gulf Operators – a summer job he held for a couple of years to help him pay his way through university.

“I wish to express my gratitude for this award from JDI,” said Justin.  “It makes me feel that I’m being recognized for my hard work at university.  I’m not only receiving financial support, but I’m also working with experienced JDI mentors and earning valuable accounting work experience.”

The Accounting Incentive Award is awarded annually to third-year business students with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and plans to pursue an accounting designation.
“Congratulations to Justin for his good performance at university.  We look forward to working with him this summer and next winter.  He’s a great example of our ongoing commitment to support and build the skills of Maritime university students,” said Randy MacMillan, Vice President of Business Development and Performance, J.D. Irving, Limited.  “The two co-op work terms will give Justin a good chance to get to know us.  There's a bright future at JDI Finance.  We represent a core of professionals within J.D. Irving, Limited who provide world-class financial services to companies throughout the JDI Divisions.  We're excited to continue to work with young people today who are potential leaders of tomorrow."

“It’s very rewarding for us to be able to mentor and provide students with learning opportunities in real business situations within a dynamic team environment,” said Riley Pye, Vice President of Administration, J.D. Irving, Limited.

JDI continues to hire qualified accountants and business graduates and is proud to support students who are choosing to pursue accounting careers.  In fact, JDI is currently supporting more than 25 employees through their CA, CMA, or CGA Designations.
