The Spirit of Giving, Holiday Season 2016

This holiday season, we want to celebrate the spirit of giving as our business divisions and employees lead initiatives to give back to the communities where we are proud to live and work.

Romero House Turkey Donations and Food Deliveries



Romero House in Saint John is a special annual stop during the holiday season.  J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) donates roasts of beef, ham, and 100 turkeys in addition to ice cream for the kids and 200 pounds of vegetables.  The Halifax Shipyard also donated 100 turkeys to Feed Nova Scotia. 

PALS Hampers

As part of the PALS (Partners Assisting Local Schools) Holiday Hamper program, JDI employees provided almost 100 Christmas hampers to local families. Delivered the week of December 19, the baskets were filled with necessities including groceries, vegetables, and turkeys as well as small gifts and games. 

Empty Stocking Fund Donation

 



From humble beginnings in 1912, The Empty Stocking Fund raised over $183,000 in 2016.  Supporting this great cause has been an annual tradition at JDI for over 80 years.

J.D. Irving, Limited continues their support for the Stan Cassidy Centre in Fredericton  as a platinum sponsor of the annual Light Up a Life campaign.  

MicroHome, Big Hearts

Kent Homes Elf Initiative, an annual tradition focused on giving to the local food bank, filled their MicroHome with 365 lbs of food. 

World-Class Logistics, Hometown Giving

 



The JDI Logistics team donated to Harbour Lights Campaign, gave Christmas bags of pyjamas and personal items to Coverdale Centre for Women, and toys to the Salvation Army in Saint John. 

Midland and the 18 Wheels of Christmas 

Midland Trucking participated in the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association and Trucks for Change 18 Wheels of Christmas initiative, gathering items in support of local food banks. 

Operation Christmas Child 

JDI employees at our Moncton head office filled 53 boxes for Operation Christmas Child. 

Fill the Bus Food Drive

JDI Moncton participated in the Anglophone East School District’s Fill the Bus food drive in support of Food Depot Alimentaire.
