Student Experiences: Jenna Bastarache
Jenna Bastarache is starting her second year of post-secondary education in the fall. She is attending Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, pursuing a degree in marketing and advertising management. This summer, she worked with the Communications team in Dieppe, New Brunswick as a Communications Assistant and Photographer.
Jenna’s passion for photography started at a young age. She started experimenting with a camera when she was 7 years old and is mostly self-taught through YouTube tutorials and books on photography.
“I am so fortunate to gain hands-on experience and work with professional photographers and videographers. I have learned so much about editing, choosing the right equipment, and lighting. I’ll use the tips and tricks I gathered this summer for the rest of my life. It’s so great to find a student position that relates to my passion.”
Jenna spent most of her time travelling the Maritimes to our various locations to take photos. One day she was in Moncton, New Brunswick taking photos of our employees participating in a charity lawn bowling game for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the next week she was in Nova Scotia taking photos of Midland employees and trucks.
“I’ve not only learned a lot about photography, but through my travels, I have also learned about the businesses and how they operate.”
Take a look at some of the diverse photos Jenna was able to capture this summer:
