Pat Harknett, Midland’s Vice President of Human Resources, was recognized as Woman of the Year at the first Atlantic Gala for Women in Transportation.

As part of Pat’s work to encourage women to become part of the transportation industry, she is a national committee member of an organization that promotes women in transportation with Trucking HR Canada called “Women with Drive.” 

Pat Harknett, Midland’s Vice President of Human Resources awarded Woman of the Year at the Atlantic gala for Women in Transportation.

“I love to enable women to see trucking as a career avenue,” said Pat Harknett. “My career in transportation has given me so many opportunities to learn and grow, while presenting exciting challenges. I believe growing the number of women in transportation will help grow and evolve the industry.”

This is not the first time Pat has been recognized; in 2015 Pat received the Achievement in Volunteer Leadership Award from the Canadian Cancer Society, and in 2009 Pat was recognized as the YWCA Moncton’s Women of the Year for her commitment to the community.

 “We are so proud to have Pat as part of our leadership team at Midland,” said Brian Bitcon, Vice President of Operations for Midland. “Pat is an exceptional person, both for the transportation industry and in her own community. We are very proud that she has been recognized at the first Atlantic Gala for Women in Transportation.”

As part of the award, the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association will make a donation to a charity of Pat’s choice. “I’ve asked for the donation to be given to YWCA’s TransitionELLE campaign in support of the Jean E.S. Irving Centre for Women and Children.  My hope is that one day one of the young women helped by this program will be on the podium accepting one of these awards.”
