Kent Homes Congratulates Six Trade Mentorship Graduates
Kent Homes, located in Bouctouche, NB, is a proud partner of a community-focused mentorship program called Place aux Compétences (PAC). Now in its third year, the program has a 93% success rate - giving local high school students an opportunity to learn valuable in-class training and on-the-job skills in various construction and carpentry trades, as well as grow self-esteem and confidence.
This year Kent Homes and its partners successfully mentored six graduates from the local Clement-Cormier High School in Bouctouche, NB. The students gained a wide range of new skills by rotating in different trades throughout Kent Homes’ modern, fast-paced manufacturing facility.
Kent Homes and its partners are proud of the program’s 93% success rate since its inception. The students gain not only valuable work experience, but also a renewed sense of confidence and appreciation for the hard work and dedication needed to serve customers in a competitive marketplace.
Kent Homes offers an opportunity for employment to as many of the graduating students as possible. Marc Belliveau, HR Manager at Kent Homes, explains: “The program is an excellent source of much-needed young talent for our company, and we try to place as many as possible, depending on job availability and market conditions. However, it’s important to note that this program is not just about creating jobs. It’s about developing stronger ties within our community – there’s nothing more rewarding than having a positive impact on the life of a young adult. Hopefully we do a great job of mentoring these students, and if they end up working at Kent Homes in the future, well that’s just an added bonus.”
To ensure the continued success of the program, Kent Homes has donated $5000 to further develop the carpentry program at Clement-Cormier. The donation will help provide much-needed tools as well as update critical safety equipment in the school. The company has also committed to providing industry-approved safety training for all students in the carpentry program going forward.
