Supporting national road safety efforts at RST-Sunbury
For Hawthorne Greenlaw, safety has been integral to his 36 years of driving with Sunbury.
Over his career hauling paper to Port Saint John, he’s made a name for himself as a reliable, safe presence behind the wheel. Last December, Hawthorne was recognized with a Safe Driving Award for more than 30 years of incident-free driving. “Over the years, I’ve always tried to be safety oriented,” he says. “I might not be perfect, but I always try to be safe.”
For Ross Forbes, who has been with RST since 1979, safety is about protecting what matters most. “I want to go home at the end of the day,” he says.
Ross began his career as a Liquid Driver more than four decades ago. Now, approaching his 46th year, he’s proud to have maintained a perfect safety score. He also received a Safe Driving Award in December to mark an impressive 45 years with zero incidents.
“Here I am 40 some years later, still going.” Ross says. “I really do enjoy the job after all these years.” He says feeling safe and confident on the roads and ensuring inspections are completed always adds to this enjoyment.
This Canada Road Safety Week, an enforcement-driven initiative to save lives on the road, we’re proud to honour drivers like Hawthorne and Ross supporting national efforts to keep our roads safe.
