Robert Dickeson's Journey with Emergency Response
Growing up in Welsford, New Brunswick, Robert Dickeson’s love for trucking began early — riding alongside his father, an RST driver who hauled from the Saint Leonard sawmill. That passion has stayed with him, evolving into a career focused on keeping the trucking industry safe.
Today, Robert plays a vital role on RST's Emergency Response team, which handles a wide range of incidents, from chemical and flammable liquid emergencies to truck rollovers and train derailments. As Emergency Response Coordinator, Robert ensures the team is always prepared.
“We need to develop an Incident Action Plan to outline job tasks,” he explains. “This is very important as it’s reviewed with everyone on site to ensure everyone knows what their task is.”
Robert started with the Emergency Response team in 2013, became a team lead in 2017, and stepped into the Emergency Response Coordinator role in 2019. Today, he also serves as Team Lead at the Bayshore Transload Facility.
Robert's years of experience continue to inform the work he does and the approach he brings to the team. "We don't plan or want an emergency to take place, but we need to be ready for when they do," Robert says. "Emergency response is important because you need a specialized team and equipment to handle these events."
