JDI proudly sponsors Girls STEM Up
J.D. Irving, Limited is proud to sponsor Girls STEM UP for the seventh year running. This annual conference is dedicated to empowering and inspiring young women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
This year’s theme is Connect and Conquer. The already sold-out event will welcome 200 delegates from across Atlantic Canada to Fredericton, N.B. on Feb. 15. Attendees, which include both university and high school students, will have the chance to explore STEM opportunities, network with industry professionals and develop leadership skills.
Maggie Gray, an Engineer in Training at JDI, will be among this year’s delegates. She first experienced the conference as a student and is now returning as a professional.
“My very first conference I attended as a student back in 2019 was the first GSU conference and I remember learning so much and meeting so many new people who shared common interests,” Gray said. “Now as an Engineer in Training, I am super excited to attend this event because I understand the impact it has on university and high school students. I am extremely grateful that JDI has been a consistent supporter of the GSU conference.”
JDI is committed to fostering the next generation of women in STEM and has been a sponsor of the event from the very start. Initiatives like Girls STEM Up actively help to break barriers and create pathways for women to thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields. Encouraging young women to explore and excel in STEM careers is not just a sponsorship priority for the company – it’s a recognition that a diversity of ideas, genders and cultures makes its teams better.
