JDI donates land for intergenerational park

Land donated by J.D. Irving, Limited affiliate Les Immeubles Estcourt Limitée will allow for the development of an intergenerational park in the Town of Pohénégamook, QC.

The 5.4 hectares of land sets the groundwork for this community-building project, which will provide a central gathering place for community members of all ages and promote connection and wellbeing.

“We’re happy to help with this very important community project for Estcourt and surrounding communities,” said Jim Irving, co-CEO of J.D. Irving, Limited. “This donation of land is on behalf of the many great employees we had at our sawmill here in Estcourt, as well as our long-time employee and mill manager, Roger Caouette. We wish the Town every success as they start work on this legacy project.”

The land was chosen for its ideal location near existing municipal facilities. The Town will start the planning and design phase for the park later this year.

“The entire municipal team is very pleased with this generous donation, which will enable us to take the next steps in the realization of this important project for our entire community,” said Pohénégamook Mayor Benoît Morin. “We want to extend our warmest thanks to Mr. James D. Irving and all his team members involved in this transaction.”
