J.D. Irving. Limited awards 7 students with the Northern New Brunswick Trades & Engineering Scholarship
J.D. Irving, Limited's Woodlands and Sawmill divisions are proud to announce the seven recipients of the third annual Northern New Brunswick Trades & Engineering Scholarship.
Designed to support students pursuing careers in skilled trades and engineering, the program provides financial support, paid work experience and pathways to long-term employment. The scholarship was open to recent high school graduates and post-secondary students from rural communities across Northern New Brunswick.
The scholarship covers the cost of tuition (up to $5,000), ensures paid summer placements with the Sawmill or Woodlands divisions and provides full-time employment opportunities after graduation.
"Supporting students who are pursuing careers in trades and engineering is an investment in the future of our communities," said Kimberly Tepper, HR Business Partner with Irving Woodlands. "We are proud to help these students gain valuable experience while creating opportunities to build their careers here in New Brunswick."
Recipients were welcomed with a luncheon and tour of Woodlands and Sawmill operations, where they learned about innovative forestry operations, potential career paths within the organization and JDI's commitment to developing the future workforce.
The 2026 scholarship recipients include:
Alex Malenfant – Industrial Mechanics, Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick
Cody Bourgoin – Mechanical Engineering, University of New Brunswick
Miguel Godbout – Instrumentation, Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick
Olivia Levesque – Chemical Engineering, University of New Brunswick
Sophie Desjardins – Mechanical Engineering, University of New Brunswick
Tommy Michaud – Mechanical Engineering, Université de Moncton
Xavier Quimpère – Instrumentation, Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick
J.D. Irving, Limited's Woodlands and Sawmill divisions would also like to recognize two graduates of the scholarship program, who are now employed full-time with the company.
2026 graduates:

Samuel Raymond – Millwright, St. Leonard Sawmill
