Irving Equipment Marks One Year Without a Lost Time Incident
Irving Equipment is proud to celebrate a major safety milestone: one full year without a lost time incident! This achievement is a direct reflection of the unwavering commitment from every team member to prioritize safety on every job site, every single day.
“Making sure everyone goes home safe to their loved ones is a core value that we all share,” said Nick MacGougan, General Manager of Irving Equipment. “One year without a lost time incident is an important milestone in our safety journey. I appreciate everyone’s effort to make personal and coworker safety a top priority in everything we do.”
This accomplishment is the result of a deeply rooted safety culture built on awareness, accountability, and action. From daily hazard identification to proactive communication, the team has embraced the belief that safety is not just a policy, but rather a shared responsibility.
“Safety is not a destination; it’s a continuous journey of awareness, accountability, and improvement,” said Vince Young, Health and Safety Manager. “Celebrating one year with no lost time incidents is a testament to our team's dedication to a strong safety culture. Every day, we take steps to identify risks, communicate effectively, and look out for one another—because safety isn’t just a policy, it’s a mindset.”
To support this culture, Irving Equipment has implemented a range of proactive safety initiatives. Their Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) process has been expanded to include non-crane operations and maintenance tasks, ensuring that all potential hazards are identified and addressed before work begins. Weekly safety talks across all branches reinforce consistent communication and keep safety top of mind. The company also tracks employee participation during check-ins and integrates safety statistics into incident reviews, promoting transparency and continuous improvement.
To further encourage proactive behavior, Irving Equipment recognizes outstanding contributions through its Hazard ID program, celebrating employees who go above and beyond in identifying and eliminating hazards. These efforts reflect the company’s belief that safety is a shared responsibility, and that every team member plays a vital role in reducing risk.
“Taking time to identify hazards, analyze risks using FLRAs, and watching out for others by completing Safety Observations are important parts of everyone’s job,” added MacGougan. “Just as important is immediately taking action when these tools identify unsafe conditions.”
Building on this achievement, Irving Equipment remains focused on continuous improvement. “Let’s continue this good work together. I am confident that we can take care of each other and eliminate all injuries,” said MacGougan.
With one year of safety success behind them, the team is more motivated than ever to build on this momentum—one safe day at a time.
