Careers in Motion: Cohen’s student story
Cohen Tremblay, a commerce student at Mount Allison University, is currently completing his second work term with J.D. Irving, Limited. As a Logistics Administrator with JDI Logistics, he is gaining hands on experience supporting the coordination of freight and working with carriers and internal teams.
“Making deals myself and learning from the team has really opened my eyes to a career in logistics,” said Cohen.
During his first work term, Cohen worked as a Business Development Student with Universal Truck and Trailer in Dieppe, where he supported the onboarding of a new product offering.
“Seeing the project come together reminded me that, even as a student, I was able to make a big impact,” Cohen said.
Reflecting on his experience, Cohen said the opportunity to work in different roles has helped him better understand potential career paths while contributing to the business.
“You get the chance to do real work with an amazing company and even better people,” said Cohen.
Back at Mount Allison University outside of his work terms, Cohen was also named captain of the men’s rugby team, an experience that has helped shape how he approaches challenges.
“In rugby, you have to be quick on your feet and respond to challenges as they happen. It’s the same in logistics, where making clear, timely decisions is critical,” he said.
Cohen’s advice to students thinking about applying for a work term is simple:
“Do it. You will be a better person for it,” Cohen said.
