Alex Bishop earns CCLP designation

Over three years ago, Alex Bishop received a full-time offer with J.D. Irving, Limited before his graduation from the University of Toronto. Now, after balancing full-time work with intensive coursework, he’s officially earned his CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation — marking a major milestone in his career and proving the value of continuous learning in the logistics industry.  

“JDI has been very supportive of my pursuit of my CCLP and my professional development as a whole,” says Alex. He started with the company as a Human Resources summer student in May 2021. Near the end of his term, he was hired before graduation through the Careers in Motion Graduate program with the Transportation and Logistics Division. With the Careers in Motion program, Alex has worked for JDI Logistics, the Divisional Business Improvement team and now for Sunbury Transport as an Account Manager. 

“I began working towards my CCLP designation during my first rotation with JDI Logistics in 2022.” The CCLP program equips professionals with the skills and knowledge needed for leadership in supply chain and logistics. 

Going forward, Alex says the skills and knowledge he gained from the CCLP program are invaluable in his day-to-day work and understanding of the industry. “Not only has it provided me with a baseline, but it allowed me to interact with other likeminded logistics professionals."
