Forests that work for New Brunswick
Forests are New Brunswick's most renewable resource and its largest economic engine – and the numbers tell the story.
The forest product sector supports 26,000 jobs across the province – 1 in every 17 New Brunswickers.
With 1,285 firms operating in the sector, forestry provides $1.9 billion in local pay-cheques and keeps good-paying jobs here at home.
It is also a major contributor to public services, generating nearly $1 billion in tax revenues that help fund the services we all depend on.
All of this is built on a renewable resource– forests are replanted, regrown, and carefully managed for future generations. Since 1957, Irving Woodlands has planted over 1.1 billion trees.
Amid change, the forest product sector remains a cornerstone of New Brunswick and helps keep NB strong. We are proud to be a part of that.
Balanced forest policy is needed to ensure:
- Healthy forests.
- Good jobs.
- Strong communities.
