Inspired by a Book – Junior Jingle Writers Go on Tour

Students from Glen Falls School in Saint John were inspired by the process of making toilet paper, and their inspiration eventually led them to tour the Irving Tissue plant in Dieppe. The grade four class was learning how to ask scientific questions, which encouraged their interest in the process of making toilet paper.

 

PALS En Route to Success

PALS (Partners Assisting Local Schools) Program Route to Success is offered at the high school level for students attending St. Malachy’s Memorial High School. This is a four-year pilot program where ninth grade students are selected by the faculty to participate, beginning in their 2nd semester of grade 9.

In the coming week, grade twelve students across the province will be donning caps and gowns to celebrate their graduation from high school. For three New Brunswick students, there will be something extra to celebrate: they are receiving financial aid from J.D. Irving, Limited to pursue the next step in their education.

Peterborough, Ontario – June 14, 2016— GE’s Marine Solutions business in Peterborough, Ontario is completing one of the first milestones of the company’s 7-year contract with Irving Shipbuilding Inc., (ISI) to provide electrical power, propulsion systems, installation and commissioning services for six ice-capable Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) for the Royal Canadian Navy.

On Your Mark, Get Set, and Go, Go, Go For PALS in the PARK!

The sun was shining for the 200 excited children and their chaperones, volunteers, fans, and families from schools and businesses all around the Saint John area. 31 competitors each had a loyal 5-person pit crew who were all excited to get their vehicles across the finish line in the 5th Annual Saint John Soap Box Derby, presented by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (APEGNB) Saint John Branch. The Derby is a key source of funding for the “PALS (Partners Assisting Local Schools) in the Park Program” hosted in partnership with the Lily Lake Pavilion, PALS, and Anglophone School District – South. In total approximately 1400-1600 students participate in the “PALS in the Park” program each year.
