Oceanic Celebrates VIV Research and Development

Oceanic celebrates over 15 years of research and development on advancing the understanding of Vortex Induced Vibrations (VIV) of offshore marine risers and subsea systems.  In 2002, Oceanic commissioned an apparatus to conduct full scale VIV experiments on offshore marine risers at high Reynolds numbers.  At the time, such an experimental apparatus didn’t exist.   

Since being commissioned, the High Reynolds Number Vortex Induced Vibration test apparatus has been extensively used to evaluate nearly all the commercially available VIV mitigation devices for deep water projects across the globe.  

Most recently, Oceanic has drawn on the significant historical in-house experimental data set to expand VIV research using advanced CFD tools.
