"It is very gratifying to be recognized in this manner, but in accepting this award I really feel it is a tribute to the many companies, organizations, and individual citizens who have come together to make a difference in the life and future of our children," Mr. Irving said.
Mr. Irving believes that partnerships succeed because of the caring commitment of the people working at the schools. "Our educators are a very dedicated group who go above and beyond to help their students become the very best they can be, and they deserve our support," Irving said.
Mr. J.K. Irving also received The Learning Partnership Champion of Education award in 2007.

• Encouraging students to stay in school
• Helping prepare students for the transition from the classroom to the world of work
• Providing innovative opportunities for students to enhance literacy and conceptual thinking
• Promoting careers in science and technology
Through these innovative programs, The Learning Partnership is a vital link that brings together students, teachers, schools, school boards, business, government, and the labour force.
