Irving Consumer Products broke ground on the construction of their new $400 million state-of-the-art tissue plant in Macon, Georgia today at an event at the site of their future home. Joined by Mayor Robert Reichert and Charlie Gatlin, Special Projects Advisor for Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), President Robert K. Irving acknowledged the next step in the construction of the new facility.
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI) announced today that J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) is the 2017 winner of the SFI Leadership in Conservation Award. This award, announced at the SFI Annual Conference, recognizes SFI Program Participants across Canada and the U.S. who are involved in strong partnerships focused on conservation.
Every year J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) awards scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education whose parents are our valued employees. This year, 23 students whose parents work for JDI’s Woodlands Division, were awarded with scholarships to go toward their post-secondary education. A total of $23,000 in scholarships was provided this year.
While some high school students were on the beach during their summer break, Colin Cormier and Christopher Fritz were busy getting a head start on their careers, learning all about building houses at Kent Homes.
Earlier last month, U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced a $7.89 Million grant for a project to improve rail infrastructure in Northeastern Maine. NBM Rail Services has been awarded the contract to repair and upgrade 22 rail bridges on the Madawaska Subdivision of the Maine Northern Railway.
On average J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) awards over $250,000 in educational scholarships each year. We award some of these scholarships to the children of our valued employees who are pursuing their education at a post-secondary level. Recently, seven students were awarded scholarships in a ceremony at our Saint John Head Office.
Educators from all over the Atlantic Provinces gathered to learn more about the forestry industry and how it impacts our region. The three-day tour involved tours of local mills, private woodlot owners land and JDI freehold land, pre-commercial thinning and commercial thinning.
Two teams of members of the Canadian Navy Frigate HMCS Fredericton cycled around New Brunswick this August making fundraising stops in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation. All proceeds from the tour go towards supporting the wishes of children diagnosed with high risk, life threatening illnesses, and severe neurological or genetic conditions in New Brunswick.
