Halifax NS -- More than 530 potential suppliers from across Canada gathered in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 for Irving Shipbuilding’s AOPS Supplier Development Session. Invitations were sent to the almost 2,000 companies included on Irving Shipbuilding’s online supplier registry with the goal of ensuring potential suppliers were informed of business opportunities within the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) Program, the first set of combat vessels to be built under the federal government’s National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS).

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. sponsored an event on May 2, 2013 at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa to recognize those who won the peace during World War II’s Battle of the Atlantic. More than fifty veterans of the Battle of the Atlantic were honoured at the gala dinner, which was organized by the Naval Association of Canada and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN).
KENT Building Supplies has awarded the contract for a new distribution centre to Maxim Construction, an employee-owned company based in Atlantic Canada. Work started this month on the 385,000 square-foot building located off the TransCanada Highway near Moncton.
