Kedgwick sawmill celebrates 20 years of success

J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI)'s Kedgwick sawmill marks a significant milestone as it celebrates 20 successful years in business. With over 140 employees, the sawmill has been a vital contributor to the local economy and has played a key role in the forest products industry in the region.

The mill has seen substantial investments in the last five years to enhance its operational capabilities. These include the installation of a molder line at the planer, a boiler and kiln to increase capacity, a new high-speed Comact debarker, and a new log canter line as an upgrade to the previous Sawquip model. These advancements have not only increased productivity but have also positioned the sawmill for sustained growth and efficiency into the future.

To commemorate this achievement, a dinner was organized at the Kedgwick Civic Centre to honor and recognize the hard work and dedication of all the employees past and present. The event brought together staff members, management, and key stakeholders to celebrate the sawmill's accomplishments. Jerome Pelletier, the Vice President of Sawmills, along with Mayor Eric Gagnon and Regional Manager Charles Cyr, expressed their appreciation and congratulated the staff on reaching this important milestone.

This celebration underscores the collective effort and commitment that has led to the mill's success over the past two decades and reaffirms JDI's ongoing focus on excellence and sustainable forestry practices.
